Note: Marli Jenkins, founder of Woodhaven High School, sent an email announcing a middle and high school art show whose work graces the walls of the Frank Rose Gallery in the South Whidbey Community center. Here are photos she sent as well as ones I took today. Fun to see the creativity of our young people. Here’s what Marli wrote:
Maggie Hogan and Alicia Jenkins are curating a student art show that opened May 7th and will run through the 28th in the Frank Rose Gallery (FRG) at the South Whidbey Community Center (SWCC). Middle and high school students from across South Whidbey have been invited to showcase their creativity through the art they’ve made throughout the school year. There are 2D art and 3D works. On the opening night May 7th, and for the first time in the FRG, digital art was represented. A few items that were there for the opening will return as they close out the show on the 28th. Later, Marli emailed: “I had to look up what alated meant when they sent me their poster—it means winged. They both created winged insects for the show. And they themselves are ready to fly, so to speak, so they felt it was a fitting title for the show. It is really the work of so many—that’s what they are hoping to celebrate on Thursday the 28th.”
