Happy Thanksgiving. I’m up in our ‘room’ at son Raymond and his partner Gino’s Foothill Ranch home. This is our first time since leaving home Sept. 18 that we’ve slept in a place other than Marion. Before heading downstairs to start our Thanksgiving meal, I’ll catch you up on the past week.
We arrived last Thursday at my niece Nellie’s home which she shares with her husband Kevin–also known as Inigo Montoya–daughter Lauren, three dogs, five cats, numerous hens and a one-winged rooster named Chops who lost his wing to a coyote, but kept his life.
We click with this family and find them so easy to be with. Lauren is an excellent intuitive cook. She also is creative like her mom, and grandmom on her mom’s side.

Kevin and Nellie rescue and foster dogs.

Cooking–we made delicious pizza with GF crust–coconut flour and arrowroot–smoky flavor thanks to Lauren’s inspired ingredient of bacon. Another evening we created a delicious salmon chowder with salmon caught by family friends, bacon, onion, potato and coconut milk. Delicious.

Creativity–Lauren upcycles clothes with her art and sells them to friends, as well as making holiday gifts.

Bill turned 71 Nov. 24th and we celebrated with our son Raymond, his partner Gino and grandson dogs Rogelio and Chicharrón. Over the past days we’ve visited Aliso Beach, San Clemente and Laguna Beach.

Raymo treated Bill and I to Wicked for Good. I loved Cynthia Erivo’s powerful performance and her character’s dedication to caring for the world she lives in. The film has a surprise ending. For Good is a song that touches my heart. It’s about how certain people have come into our lives and the difference they make.

It’s 11:44 PM on Thanksgiving. Time to say good night, and thanks for being there.
