Note: Karen Achabal, asked that I promote Metamorphose: A Concert for Change June 27, from 7-10 PM at Bayview Hall. The free community gathering with music and art features a cash bar hosted by Taproom@Bayview Corner. Musicians include Window Goya, Camila Recchio, Joanna Cary, Annie & Aria, Nick Toombs, Steve Barbour, The Buffleheads, and Special Guests. Karen’s words in an email follow:

I went to hear a show at Bailey’s in March, and heard Camila Recchio for the first time. She sang two protest songs, one original and one a cover of Bob Dylan’s “Masters of War.” It hit me very powerfully, I thought , “Wow, I really needed to hear that!” and I realized I was probably not the only person who might need that kind of musical expression and release. My sister and I started imagining a concert for protest and hope, and I decided that I really wanted to make it happen. I asked Rocky Jensen, local musician, artist and activist to help me organize it….it’s really been a joint venture since then, Rocky has brought so much experience and imagination to the project!
The musical lineup is really spectacular, some new performers and some local favorites. There is going to be original art on display that illustrates the themes of the concert…protest, hope and change. And the exciting thing is the event is completely free, not even a suggested donation. If people want to donate money there will be a few different community organizations there for them to contribute to!
